Database Software for Business

Customised PHP/MySQL and Microsoft Access Databases are available for a wide range of business models. From retailers and wholesalers to project management, equipment hire and construction.

These systems rely on no other expensive software licenses. This results in the cost of implementation being less than half of other commercial offerings in most cases.

For small workgroup based databases, Microsoft Access is typically employed. A front end application runs on the client PCs and a shared data file resides on a fileserver. These databases are best suited to a small number of users at a single location, with small to moderate data storage and analysis requirements. Microsoft Access is not required to be installed on each individual computer as the front end application can be deployed with the Access Runtime.

When a larger, more secure and more robust solution is required, PHP/MySQL systems are offered. MySQL, produced by MySQL AG and incorporating the innodb table manager from Oracle, is released as open source software and is one of the most widely used database management systems worldwide. It has been employed by organisations such as Google, Yahoo and NASA.
